New Milford Man Arrested in Danbury Drug Bust: PD
The arrests followed complaints of suspicious activity.
NEW MILFORD, CT -- Police have reported the arrest of two Danbury men and one New Milford man for a variety of drug related offenses Thursday. The arrests followed several weeks of investigation related to drug sales throughout the Danbury area.
Police say the investigation was initiated after investigators received citizen complaints regarding alleged illegal activity on the part of Orlando Ellis, 27. Based on a further investigation, which police say revealed activity consistent with drug trafficking, the superior court issued search warrants for the person of Ellis, his car and his residence.
In an effort to execute the search warrants related to this investigation, at approximately 4:00 p.m., on May 24, investigators established a surveillance of Ellis residence at 17 Starr Avenue. During that time police say investigators witnessed Ellis engage in several suspected drug transactions, which lead to the arrest of one of the buyers, Dylan Montana Griffing, 24, of 304 Kent Road in New Milford.

Shortly after, investigators saw Raymond Newsome, 43, of 7 Kendall Terrace, enter the driveway and park. When Ellis entered Newsome’s parked car investigators took the opportunity to approach the car and take control of Ellis. In doing so, police say they discovered Ellis and Newsome were engaged in a suspected drug transaction. As the detention of both parties and the investigation continued, investigators allege that Ellis and Newsome were in possession of a substantial amount of illegal drugs and several thousand dollars in cash.
Based on the above findings, Ellis and Newsome were placed under arrest and transported to the police department where they were processed for the listed offenses. After posting a $100,000 thousand dollar bond, Newsome was released from the police department pending a future court appearance. Unable to post a $100,000 thousand dollar bond, Ellis was held at the police department and presented to court the following morning.
