NEW MILFORD, CT — A New Milford K-9 officer led her handler to a suicidal man in the woods, where the police officer was able to save his life.
On Jan. 26 at about 2 a.m., New Milford Police Officer Mike Lafond and Police K-9 Kira were dispatched to assist the Danbury Police Department in locating a man who had threatened suicide and fled a residence on foot.
K-9 Kira tracked for more than an hour and was able to locate the man, who was unresponsive, in a wooded area in 15 degree weather. Officer Lafond administered two doses of Narcan to the man, who was then transported to the hospital for further treatment.
