Alex Jones Appeals $1.4 Billion Sandy Hook Judgement: Report

The conspiracy theorist's attorney, Norm Pattis, reportedly filed the appeal last week.

NEWTOWN, CT — Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist who lost a $1.4 billion defamation lawsuit by families of Sandy Hook victims, has filed an appeal of the massive verdict, reported the News-Times.

A judge found Jones had defamed the families of the 2012 mass killing, by referring to the incident as a hoax. As a result, some of Jones' fans harassed many of the families for years.

"The record clearly supports the plaintiffs' argument that the defendant's conduct was intentional and malicious, and certain to cause harm by virtue of their infrastructure, ability to spread content, and massive audience including the infowarriors," wrote Judge Barbara Bellis in her 2022 decision.

Through his attorney, Norm Pattis, Jones filed the appeal on Friday, reportedly claiming that the judgement against him violated his free speech rights, and was meant to effectively end his InfoWars business.

Jones filed for bankruptcy soon after the judgement, claiming he did not have the money to pay the huge sum, though he has filed paperwork for a financial plan under which his company would still pay him more than $500,000 annually.
