News Release for AUTUMN FESTIVAL CONCERT at TRINITY NEWTOWN
On Sunday, November 2nd at 4:00 p.m. Music @ Trinity will present an AUTUMN FESTIVAL CONCERT featuring flautist Mary Larson, clarinetist Ed Wojtowicz and friends. The secular musical event will take place at Trinity Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown, CT, with professional singers Michele McBride, Cynthia McCorkindale, Gordon Jones, John Sullivan, and Boyd Schlaefer singing works of Bernstein, Handel, Spohr, and the marvelous setting of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” by Randall Thompson.

The program will feature the beautiful fall sounds of Aaron Copland’s Duo for Flute and Piano performed by Mary Larson and pianist Fiona Smith Sutherland. This exceptional flute piece is rarely performed and it is a treat to experience this work in a live setting.
Juilliard trained clarinetist Ed Wojtowicz will play Three Little Waltzes for Flute and Clarinet by Daniel Dorff with Ms. Larson.

In this autumn concert we will also hear two talented local pianists, Madeleine Albee from Newtown High School and Zachary Macey from the Reed Intermediate School. Maddy will be playing works of Chopin, Bartok, and Schumann while Zachary’s piano pieces include the lively Maple Leaf Rag and arrangements of Beethoven, Grieg, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
Treble soloist Drew Sutherland will continue the autumn theme with Aaron Copland’s Zion’s Walls and a setting of the haunting Hallelujah of Jeff Buckley.
The seventy-five minute concert will be followed by a festive reception where aspiring young musicians and lovers of music can meet and talk with the instrumentalists and singers.
