Earlier this week, which is National Fire Prevention week, a fire gutted the kitchen of a home on Turkey Roost Road in Monroe. As done each year, Monroe volunteer firefighters marked fire prevention week by hosting an open house to raise fire prevention awareness last Sunday, and they have been teaching fire prevention and safety tips in the Monroe schools.
