BREAKING: Newtown Road Closed After Jeep Crashes into Telephone Pole
Taunton Hill Rd. in Newtown is closed after a man driving a Jeep crashed into, and snapped, a telephone pole on Taunton Hill Rd.

At approximately 10:32 p.m. Sunday night, Dodgingtown Fire was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Taunton Hill Rd. according to Assistant Fire Chief Joe Masso.
Masso said seven firefighters and three fire vehicles responded after being dispatched by the Newtown Police who were first on the scene.
The male occupant did not sustain any injuries, but there was heavy damage to the Jeep Wrangler he was driving. “He was very lucky not to get hurt,” Masso told Patch.

The Jeep crashed into the telephone pole knocking down wires down into the roadway. The area of the accident was closed Sunday evening and may remained closed throughout the morning until crews fix the damage.
As of 12:37 a.m., CL&P reports there are 18 of their customers currently without power in Newtown.
