Businesses Show Why There's No Better Destination Than Newtown

A brilliant blue sky and the immaculate grounds of the Rock Ridge Country Club served as the backdrop for the 10th annual Destination Newtown.

And just like the weather, the mood was sunny as more than 60 businesses showcased their products and services for the community to see — and taste.

Destination Newtown is one the Newtown Chamber of Commerce's signature events.

In her remarks to the gathering of business owners, Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra said, "Our best days are always ahead of us. I think in order for us to thrive we have to believe that a better day is around the corner."

Newtown Savings Bank President John Trentacosta added, "Support each other. It's important."

The keynote speaker this year was Croix Sather, the author of "Dream Big Act Big," an inspiring account of his incredible journey running the entire distance from San Diego to New York City in 100 days. [We'll be posting a separate article about Sather and his speech.]
