The ice cream shop sits atop a hill on a farm on Route 302 and recently celebrated 13 years in business. The ice cream is made fresh milk from Guida's Dairy and ice cream lovers can watch the cows graze out back and across the street while enjoying their sugary treats.

In 1984 William David Baldwin Ferris, a descendant of the first Ferris to arrive in Newtown around 1703, purchased the farm, establishing a family tradition in agriculture that has been taken up by family members of each succeeding generation.

In the 1930's the Ferris began the transition to dairy specialization and in the 1950's, Charles D. Ferris III purchased registered Holstein cows and modernized crop, environmental and herd management. In 1996, Charles D. Ferris IV (Charlie), Brendan, and Colleen joined their father to form Ferris Acres Farm, LLC. In March 2003, Shirley, the wife of Charles III, joined the LLC and Ferris Acres Creamery was established. Shirley developed original recipes for their ice cream and in 2007, Terry, Charlie's wife, became general manager of The Creamery.
