Driver Hits Utility Pole In Newtown, Charged With DUI: Police
Police said the crash happened early Saturday morning at an intersection in town.
NEWTOWN, CT — A Danbury man was charged with drunken driving after a crash involving a utility pole early Saturday morning in Newtown, police said.
Officers were dispatched around 2:23 a.m. April 11 to the area of Mount Pleasant Road and Reservoir Road on a report of a motor vehicle crash, according to Newtown police.
An investigation found the vehicle had been traveling northbound on Mount Pleasant Road when it crossed the centerline and struck a utility pole off the southbound shoulder, police said.

The vehicle sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed from the scene, according to police.
The driver, identified as Dinelson Rosario-Tejeda, 30, of Danbury, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and making an improper turn, police said.

Police said no injuries were reported.
Rosario-Tejeda was released on a $500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 23.
