Eagle Scout Hopeful Organizes Newtown Backpack Drive
The drive will benefit Operation Hope

Seth Barrett, who is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout, is running a backpack drive as part of his eagle project in Newtown.
The drive is on Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Newtown Middle School. Backpacks will go to Operation Hope in Fairfield, a non-profit that serves the homeless.

Barrett, 17, became a cub scout when he was 6-years-old and then joined Boy Scout Troop 370 when he was 12.
“The principles learned in scouting have been in an important part of my life for as long as I can remember,” Barrett said. “We say the Scout Oath and Law before every meeting, but what has really influenced me was seeing the older boys and leaders really living it.”
