Newtown’s seniors citizens have a leaky handicapped bus. It has been that way for years despite the numerous attempts to repair it. This vehicle needs to be replaced but there are no funds budgeted for it. So Anna Wiedemann, Carol Mattegat and LeReine Frampton decided to start raising funds to help replace it.
The kick off event is a Victorian Tea to be held Sunday, May 15 from 1 – 3 pm at the Senior Center on Riverside Road. The teas will be supplied by Simpson and Vail of Brookfield. Scones, finger sandwiches and baked goods will be served with the tea.
There will be a silent auction as well. The cost is $10 per person and seating is limited. To reserve your spot go to 4fundraiser@gmail.com.

We are still accepting donations and volunteers for both Saturday and Sunday.
We have started selling raffle tickets. The seniors have made a queen size quilt for the raffle. Local artists David Merrill and Michelle Rosenthal have donated prints for the other prizes. The drawing will be held June 20 at the Senior Center. Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the tea and at the duck race.
