February Events at EverWonder Children's Museum

EverWonder Children’s Museum is pleased to announce its calendar for February 2017. The museum has events for the entire family. The event calendar is subject to change without notice. Please check EverWonderMuseum.org or Facebook for calendar changes and announcements.

EverWonder is open Tuesday- Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $7.00 per person, and children under the age of 1 year old are free. Museum members are free. Parking at the museum is also free.

Story Lab for Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am to 11:00 am. This 30 minute program of STEM themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission.

Science Lab: Candy Heart Challenge

Let's work on our engineering skills! On Wednesday, February 1st, we are designing and building walls out of conversation hearts. Come build a load bearing wall or a non-load bearing wall. Children will test the strength of their wall through a wind test.

Science Lab: Love Bead Coding

Do you know the l-o-v-e code? Children will learn binary coding through creating hearts with pipe cleaners and then stringing beads in binary sequence to create Valentine's Day messages. Through this activity, children will also learn about patterns and work on their gross motor skills.

Science Lab: Thaumatropes

We are taking a trip back to the 19th century to make thaumatropes! A thaumatrope is an optical illusion toy with a disk with a picture on each side attached to either a piece of string or a stick. When the thaumatrope is twirled quickly the images blend into one image.

President’s Day

On Monday, February 20th, EverWonder Children's Museum will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in honor of President's Day! We will be conducting the penny cleaning experiment. During this experiment, children will learn about chemical reactions and atoms during this experiment. Children will create their own solutions to clean pennies out of water, vinegar, soap and baking soda.

Science Lab: Spoon Maracas

Shake shake shake... shake shake shake... shake your very own maraca! On Wednesday, February 22nd, children will make their own maracas out of plastic eggs, spoons, rice and masking tape.

Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children’s Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children’s Museum, Inc.) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in Northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations. Museums hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am -5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The museum is located at 31 Pecks Lane Newtown, CT 06470.
