Final Public Hearings for Newtown Budgets set for Wednesday

This will be the final meeting before the Council takes up deliberations ​before a public referendum in April

NEWTOWN, CT — The Legislative Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday to hear voter comments on the 2019-20 annual budget.

This will be the final meeting before the Council takes up deliberations before a public referendum on the spending plan, scheduled for April 23.

The proposed town budget is $42,207,726, or $1,140,759 above the current spend. The Board of Education is proposing a $78,104,410 budget for the next fiscal year, which is roughly a 2.7 percent increase from the current budget.

The hearing will be held Wednesday, March 20, at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.
