Health Dept. Finds Newtown Nursing Home In 'Immediate Jeopardy'

The CT Department of Public Health found the Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in "immediate jeopardy."

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown nursing home has stopped taking admissions after the state Department of Public Health issued it an "immediate jeopardy" order last week, the News-Times is reporting.

The Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, operated by Athena Health Care, said the state has 10 days to submit written findings on what it found during recent inspections there, according to the report.

The punitive status, ordered on Friday, was removed on Sunday, according to News 12, and an immediate plan of correction was put in place to resolve the concerns identified.
