Man Convicted of Killing Newtown Wife Dies in Prison
John Heath was convicted two years ago of killing his wife in the 1980's.

A man convicted of killing his wife in Newtown during 1984 died in prison.
John Heath, 72, had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, but the exact cause of death hasn’t been determined, according to the News-Times. He passed away in October.

Heath was convicted two years ago after the cold case regarding his wife Elizabeth Gough-Heath was reopened. He hid her body in cistern beneath a barn on Poverty Hollow Road. The body was found when an owner was renovating the area.
Heath said his wife ran away in the middle of the night.
