Man Nearly Crushes Newtown Officer During Pursuit: PD
He was captured days later after he escaped police.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Danbury man was arrested after he nearly crushed an officer between vehicles while fleeing, according to police.
Officers noticed a vehicle without a front license plate and a rear plate that belonged to another vehicle on Oct. 7 on Rt. 34.
Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled and the pursuit was terminated for safety concerns, police said.

An officer spotted the vehicle nearby a short time later and driver John Paul Suero nearly crushed him between his vehicle and the police cruiser, police said.
Suero managed to escape after being picked up by another vehicle. Danbury and Newtown Police captured him on Oct. 13.

He is charged with assault on a police officer, engaging police in a pursuit, reckless operation and first-degree larceny. He also had three other outstanding warrants and was held in lieu of combined $104,500 bail.
