New Details Released On Oil Theft Case In Newtown: Police
The suspect is accused of stealing diesel fuel last June, according to Newtown police.

NEWTOWN, CT — New details have emerged in the arrest of Yonkers, New York, resident Jonathan J. Garces, who was arrested on a warrant last week in connection with the theft of oil from Hilario's Garage on Mt. Pleasant Road in Newtown, according to police.
Garces turned himself in at the Newtown Police Department on Feb. 28, and is facing charges in the June 18 incident from last year.
"The warrant stemmed from a robbery incident during the early morning hours on 6/18/2021 at a local business on Mt. Pleasant Road," Newtown police said in a statement. "The victim interrupted a theft in progress when he observed Garces removing diesel fuel from heavy equipment parked on the property. Garces fled from the scene in a white Chevrolet Astro van and in doing so injured the victim."
