Newton Police Host Charity Event At American Legion

From Newton Police: The Newton Police, in collaboration with members of the Waltham and Watertown Police Unions, will be hosting a fundraiser on Friday, October 19, at the Newton American Legion Post 440. All proceeds from the event will go directly to New England Concern of Police Survivors (NECOPS) & Cops for Kids with Cancer (CFKWC). We are asking for a little help from the public.

Please consider making a donation-- monetary, gift certificates for good or services, tickets to a sporting event, etc. are all welcome and appreciated. We will be holding raffles and silent auctions to raise funds for these two 501 (c)(3) organizations.

As you know it’s been a difficult year for police officers and their families. All funds raised by the NECOPS organization go directly to support services and events for survivors of slain officers. All organizers and board members work for free; there are no salaries. The same holds true for Cops for Kids with Cancer. The Board consists of volunteers and all monies raised go directly to families whose children are suffering from cancer. We believe these two worthy causes help to enhance our mission of serving and supporting the community.

Donations can be sent to: Newton Police Memorial Association, c/o Sgt. John Claflin, 1321 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02465. After the event, all proceeds will be split 50/50 to each organization. If you prefer to give directly to one of these causes, checks can be made payable to “Cops for Kids with Cancer” or “New England Concern of Police Survivors” and sent to the address above.
