Newtown Code Red Alert Leads to Tentative ID of Car Theft Suspect
The car was reported stolen out of Danbury.

NEWTOWN, CT —Police have tentatively identified the man at the center of a Code Red alert sent to residents on Monday.
Newtown police report that the Code Red was sent to residents for informational purposes "due to the large scale police activity in the area and abundance of caution" by officers investigating a stolen car. The car was abandoned in the area of Pole Bridge Road, and a young Hispanic man was seen leaving it. Officers converged on the area in an attempt to locate the suspect.
"Based on the Code Red, our police department received information on the suspect and he has been tentatively identified," a police spokesman said in a statement released on social media.

The car was reported stolen out of Danbury. Police say the investigation is active, and that they hope to make an arrest soon.
