Newtown Firm Developing Drone Swarm Tech For Disaster Response Ahead Of Fire Season

The company is preparing a drone system designed to assist emergency response during wildfires and other disasters.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown-based company is developing drone swarm technology designed to assist emergency response efforts during wildfires and other disasters.

SwiftAid Drone Swarm, an initiative of Connecticut firm Vibgyor Global Initiatives, is working to deploy an autonomous drone system that can provide real-time aerial data during emergencies, according to a company announcement.

The technology is designed to operate independently of traditional infrastructure such as cell towers, WiFi or satellite systems, allowing it to function in conditions where communication networks may be disrupted.

Company officials said the system uses coordinated drones to map terrain, identify hazards and provide situational data to first responders during active disaster conditions.

Deployment is being planned ahead of the 2026 fire season, with additional testing and training still underway, according to the company.

“We're not talking about a theoretical future solution,” said Sandeep Sahani, president of Vibgyor Global Initiatives. “The technology has already proven itself in real-world conditions.”

The company said the system is intended for use in wildfire response as well as other emergencies, including hurricanes and large-scale natural disasters.

Officials said the effort comes as natural disasters increase in frequency and severity, placing added pressure on emergency response systems.
