Newtown Liquor Clerk, Underage Purchaser Charged: Police

A cashier at Sandy hook Wine and Liquor and an underage purchaser were charged after police spotted the underage person with a case of beer, police said.

Officers were conducting extra patrols to enforce underage drinking laws on August 20. They observed an 18-year-old male come out of Sandy hook Wine and Liquor with the case of beer. He placed it in his vehicle.

Police approached the 18-year-old and he said he wasn’t of age. He was given an infraction for possession of alcohol by a minor.

Nicholas Heron, 21, was given a misdemeanor summons for sale of alcohol to a minor.
