Newtown Man Turns Himself In on Assault, Wrong Way Driving Warrants: Danbury Police
The man turned himself in on two active warrants after failing to appear in court for two separate cases.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown man turned himself in to Danbury Police on two active warrants after failing to appear in court for the two cases, according to Danbury police.
Alan Bredbenner, 34, faces a variety of assault and motor vehicle charges after he was taken into custody Monday, along with charges of failure to appear. Bredbenner was charged Monday with assault in the third degree, conspiracy to commit assault in the second degree, threatening in the second degree and failure to appear in the first degree.
In a separate case, he was also charged with driving the wrong way on a divided highway, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating a motor vehicle under suspension and two counts of failing to appear in the second degree.

Bredbenner had been arrested on a warrant on Aug. 27 by Danbury Police on the assault charges. Police had also discovered that he had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court on the motor vehicle charges stemming from an arrest on May 25.

The Newtown man is currently being held on a court-set $25,000 bond for the assault case, and a $10,000 bond for the motor vehicle case.
