First Selectman Pat Llodra also recommended a stipulation that any proceeds from the sale of the property directly benefit families of the victims.

Twenty-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed his mother Nancy in the home before driving to Sandy Hook elementary School where he shot and killed 20 students and six educators.

The property was acquired by the Town of Newtown for no cost, according to NBC. It was given to the town by Hudson Savings Bank.
