Newtown Police Raising Money for K-9 With Cancer
K-9 Saint Michael has served Newtown since 2014.

NEWTOWN, CT — Police are raising funds for the care of a police K-9 who has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
The department has set up a gofundme page for K-9 Saint Michael for donations to help cover his medical costs related to the diagnosis. Saint Michael has served the town since 2014 with handler Officer Felicia Figol, according to the page.
"He is an asset to the police force and our community needs him back on the road as soon as possible," read the page."Your donations will help cover the costs of his medical treatment and potentially save his life."

Saint Michael is trained in narcotics detection, suspect tracking and apprehension. The page has been shared 267 times and as of April 5 at $10:48 a.m. the page has raised $960 of its $500 goal.
