Police say the woman also left the scene of the collision.

NEWTOWN, CT — A local woman was charged with driving under the influence after police say she struck a utility pole and a mailbox on Boggs Hill Road at around 9:06 p.m. Saturday evening.

Newtown Police say that an investigation found that a car traveling right northbound on Boggs Hill Road veered completely off the roadway and hit a utility pole.

The car came back into the roadway after crossing into the southbound lane, and a fluid trail led police to find that the car hit a mailbox on Boggs Hill Road as well. To sign up for Newtown breaking news alerts and more, click here.
