Proposed Apartment Building In Newtown Denied By P&Z: Report
The plan by Brookfield landscape architect Robert Sherwood called for the construction of a 27-unit complex.
NEWTOWN, CT — A proposal to build a 27-unit apartment building at South Main Street and Borough Lane in Newtown was rejected last week by the Planning and Zoning Commission, the News-Times reported.
Proposed by Brookfield-based landscape architect Robert Sherwood, the project would have required the demolition of a home on the 1.6-acre property, and the construction of a three-story building with 50 parking spaces.
The commission turned it down unanimously, seemingly agreeing with residents who opposed the project because it was too much for the historic neighborhood.
