Save the Date: 21st Newtown Historical Society Annual House and Garden Tour--June 25, 2017

it's time to circle June 25 on your calendar to see the best colonial, vintage and modern-day homes and gardens in Newtown.

Be sure to circle June 25 on your calendar--especially if you love to see period American homes and their beautiful grounds and gardens. As always, the Newtown Historical Society will be featuring some of the best antique, vintage and modern homes.

This annual tour offers visitors a chance to time travel from the 1700s to modern day and see the most enjoyable period homes and their gardens. This year, the tour features an elegant 1753 Federal house on Boggs Hill Road with its 21st century addition, plus the flowering grounds. When entering the original brick house, unusual for this period, it is like being transported back in time with the chestnut floors, fireplaces and period lighting and furniture. Then, entering one of the doorways of the 1700s house moves visitors into the 2001 addition with its wide open spaces and modern design as well as beautiful flowering grounds.

Also on the list this year is the home, studios and garden of an award-winning artist and author on Taunton Lake. This time, travelers go back to the 1950s and see a retro-style vintage home through the eyes of the artist. Throughout the home are her one-of-a-kind creative embellishments. Outdoors are myriad of flowers in all their splendor. The tour also features a home and garden on historic Main Street, plus several more outstanding sites throughout town. Tickets in advance are $25.00 and the day of event, $30.00; they can be purchased online or at Newtown Library. Time is 11:00am to 5:00pm, rain or shine.
