The second annual 26 Days of Kindness event to honor the 20 children and six educators that died at Sandy Hook Elementary School started Wednesday.

Newtown High School graduate Ashley Petersen, 25, came up with the idea last year as a tribute to those who died, according to the News-Times.

Petersen encourages people to perform acts of kindness and charity to honor one victim each day, according to the event Facebook page.
