Summer Concert & BBQ Series

Brought to the public through a collaboration between the Newtown Chamber of Commerce and the Newtown Parks & Rec Department.

Through a collaboration between the Newtown Chamber of Commerce and the Newtown Parks & Rec Department, a free summer concert and barbeque is being held for the community on Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, August 13 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Dickinson Memorial Park Band Shell located at 50 Elm Drive in Newtown.

These special events are being offered as part of the 7th Annual Summer Concert Series sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank. There is no cost for this event and it is open to all ages. Attendees are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and purchase food and snacks by Bucher’s Best Country Market, a local, antibiotic-free, hormone-free eatery. Classic barbeque food will include burgers, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks, and water.

The musical talent of July 23rd will be Shawn Taylor: “Wandering Roots”, a robust mixture of grooves influenced by blues, bluegrass, rock, reggae, folk, and country music. The concert is being sponsored by Shaolin Studios.

The musical talent of August 13th will be The Willie Portera Band, a trio working together for the past 30 years and voted the best local rock band in the Fairfield Advocate 3 years in a row. This concert is being sponsored by Lathrop School of Dance, who will be giving a live performance before the concert begins.

These events will be held rain or shine, so mark off your calendars for great summer nights with family and friends.
