Two Cars Stolen in Newtown, Had Keys Left in Them: Police

The thefts occurred early Friday morning.

NEWTOWN, CT — Police are reporting that two cars were stolen early Friday in Newtown.

The cars were stolen in the very early morning, one from Currituck Road, the other from Old Bethel Road, police say. Both vehicles had the keys left in them.

Police are reporting that one of the vehicles has already been recovered abandoned in Hartford. Investigators are continuing to search Hartford for the second car.

These thefts are the latest in a summer-long wave of car thefts and burglaries, many facilitated by doors left unlocked and keys left in the vehicles. Police are urging all area residents to remove their valuables from their vehicles, and to keep them locked.
