Vandalism in Newtown Causes $1k in Damage; Flower Box Damage Leads to Arrest

Vandalism at Amaral Motors

About $1,000 in damage occurred after a vandal or vandals struck Amaral Motors on South Main Street.

The damage happened in the overnight hours between August 9 and 10, police said.

Offensive words were spray painted on three trucks. Headlights were smashed and tires were punctured.

Damaged Flower Box Leads to Arrest

Police stopped a Sandy Hook woman who allegedly tried to leave the Mobil gas station on Church Hill Road after striking and damaging a flower box with her vehicle on August 7.

Police responded and arrested Karisma Aarons, 21, of Sandy Hook.

She was charged with evading responsibility, operating under a suspended license, operating an unregistered vehicle, failure to carry insurance and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

She was also charged with failure to appear from other warrants.
