Viewfinder: College Fair at Newtown High School

Students have opportunity to preview 140 schools.

Each spring the Newtown High School Guidance Department and Career Center sponsor a college fair for sophomores, juniors and their parents.

Colleges compete to make that very important first impression with students and parents. The first college fair held in the new and larger NHS gymnasium was a huge success.

A broad range of colleges and military organizations attended to market themselves to the hundreds of parents and students that attended.

Major universities such as the University of Connecticut and the University of Michigan were there. Wesleyan University and Emory University attended as well as many of the small schools in the Northeast. Rounding out the spectrum were technical schools and most of the branches of the military.
