Volunteer Firefighter, 18, Accused of Breaking Into Home and Punching Victim In The Face: Police
Breaking: Police say the suspect was known to the victim.
NEWTOWN, CT — A Monroe volunteer firefighter was arrested after police say he and another teen broke into a home and attacked an occupant, according to Newtown Police.
Brian Anthony Carreiro, 18, of Monroe and a 17-year-old suspect broke into a home on Elizabeth Street at 3:23 a.m. Saturday, police allege. Carreiro and the teen allegedly punched a companion of the homeowner, according to police.
"This was an isolated incident," said Lt. Aaron Bahamonde. "No additional arrests are expected."

Police say Carreiro and the teen were known to the victims. Police say Carreiro wouldn't turn himself in, but officers arrested him at a firefighter training course in Trumbull.
NBC Connecticut reports that Carriero is a member of the Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company, who chose not to comment.

Both Carreiro and the teen were charged with burglary, disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree. Carreiro was released on a $5,000 bond and is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 20.
