NEWTOWN WEATHER ALERT: Connecticut Facing Snow, Sleet, and Ice For Monday's Commute
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook and winter weather advisory for all of Connecticut on Monday.

A hazardous weather outlook and winter weather advisory has been issued for the entire state for early Monday into Monday afternoon.

Earlier today, the National Weather Service was predicting an inch of snow for all of Connecticut, but that is no longer the case.
In a revised alert issued Sunday night, most of the Connecticut shoreline will barely see any snow accumulation, but travel will still be treacherous for the morning commute.

On the Connecticut Shoreline snow and sleet will begin after 3 a.m. with a half-inch of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice and sleet accumulating.
At 9 a.m. the temperature will rise above freezing on the Shoreline and sleet will mix with rain, and turn to all rain around noon, according to the National Weather Service.
For portions of northern Fairfield and New Haven counties, snow will start around 3 a.m. and snow could accumulate up to 1 inch, but freezing rain and sleet will mix in quickly before changing to all rain by noon. Sleet and ice could accumulate up to half an inch. Again travel may be very tricky for Monday’s commute.
After a period of rain, wintry precipitation is expected to return with snow, sleet and freezing rain late Monday into early Tuesday, but no accumulation is expected.
In Hartford County, snow will begin after 4 a.m. and accumulate up to 1 inch, and then there will be one-tenth of an inch of ice on top of the snow, which will make travel very difficult.
The National Weather Service predicts that the snow, sleet and freezing rain mix will turn to all rain by 11 a.m. Monday in Hartford County. Late Monday the precipitation may end as a wintry mix, but little or no accumulation is expected.
In Tolland County, snow and sleet will begin after 4 a.m. and continue as wintry precipitation until noon before changing to rain. Again one inch of snow is predicted with some ice on top of it. The rain is expected to return as wintry precipitation late Monday, but no accumulation is expected.

On the plus side, the anticipated snow threat for Thursday is currently off the table, according to the National Weather Service.
In fact the rest of the week, Tuesday through Saturday currently looks to be dry with seasonal temperatures, nothing like last week’s arctic blast we had to deal with.
So please be safe on the roadways tomorrow morning and plan ahead and give yourself more time.
