Wheeler Family Welcomes New Baby to the World

David and Francine Wheeler, who lost their 6-year-old son Benjamin Wheeler in the Newtown shooting, welcomed baby boy Matthew Bennett to the world.

Matthew Bennett Wheeler was born Nov. 5 at Danbury Hospital, weighing in at eight pounds, eight ounces, according to the New York Daily News.

David Wheeler, 53, said his wife Francine, 47, is doing well and that the birth was miraculous in many ways.

They told CBS News that the new baby “was bringing light and joy into their lives.”

The family moved to New York state after the shooting, according to the Register Citizen.

Ben’s Lighthouse was created in honor of Benjamin Wheeler. The organization, “fosters all children’s potential to build a more compassionate and connected world,” according to the website.
