Wrong Plates Lead To Arrest After Driver Gives False Identity: Newtown Police

Police said the driver allegedly used another person's identity and had active warrants at the time of the stop.

NEWTOWN, CT — A traffic stop in Newtown led to an arrest after police said a vehicle was found with license plates that did not match the car.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Meadow Road on March 14 after noticing the plate discrepancy, according to Newtown Police.

Police said the driver initially provided a valid Connecticut driver's license, but further investigation determined the license belonged to another person and the driver was attempting to conceal his identity.
