Killingworth Woman Charged In North Branford 2021 Fatal Hit & Run: PD

NORTH BRANFORD, CT —It's been seven months since the body of Douglas Clark, 52, of North Branford was found on the side of the Branford Road. Clark was the victim of an October 2021 fatal hit-and-run crash.

Now, North Branford police have charged Amanda Mark, 36, of Killingworth, in connection with his death. Mark turned herself in to police on an outstanding warrant.

North Branford Police Department Deputy Chief James Lovelace said Mark was charged with Evasion of Responsibility in Operation of a Motor Vehicle Resulting in Death. She's scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court May 13.

Just days after the crash that claimed Clark's life, North Branford police had tracked down the vehicle they believed was involved in the hit-and-run. A green 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sahara was found in Killingworth that had "damage consistent" with the hit-and-run, Lovelace said at the time. Investigators seized and transported it to a secure facility.

"We want to thank the family and friends of the victim, Douglas Clark, for their patience and confidence in our department during this investigation," Lovelace wrote in a news release.
