Burglar Uses Saw to Break Into Gas Station, Steals $3K Worth of Items: North Haven Police

The 50-year-old suspect was arrested Wednesday night after police say he used a saw to cut through a wall and enter the building.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Meriden man is accused of using a saw to break into a North Haven gas station and steal more than $3,000 worth of items, according to police.

Police said the burglary occurred during the early morning hours on Jan. 18 at a State Street gas station. The suspect used a saw to cut through the wall and gain access into the building.

The suspect pushed over a large display case and rummaged through a store cabinet removing boxes of cigarette cartons, according to police.

More than $3,000 worth of store merchandise was stolen, including cigarettes, energy drinks, chewing tobacco, and miscellaneous over-the-counter medication, police said.

North Haven investigators identified the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.

Joseph Denegris, 50, of Meriden, was taken into custody by North Haven Police on Wednesday night (Jan. 25).

Denegris was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny. He was held on a $75,000 bond.
