John Liquori Memorial Event Set for Friday Night in North Haven

The second John Liquori Memorial event will take place Friday, Oct. 23 when the North Haven football team takes on Fairfield Prep at Vanacore Field.

The game begins at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.).

There will be a moment of silence and the field will be decorated in purple in memory ofLiquori, a 2012 North Haven High School graduate who was killed in July 2014 by a drunk driver while jogging.

There will be a raffle, harvest candles and commemorative T-shirts sold at the game to benefit the John Liquori Memorial Foundation, which grants scholarships to high school seniors who exemplify Liquori’s qualities.

There will also be a Mothers Against Drunk Driving table at the event to make the community aware of the devastating effects of being under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle, according to event organizer Melissa Daniele.

“We are celebrating our memories of John and bringing the community together for this special football game,” Daniele said.
