Facial recognition led police to NJ man charged in North Haven car theft, warrant says (nhregister.com) — North Haven residents are learning more about an April 9 gas-station car theft in town, after a warrant detailed how facial recognition and interstate cooperation led to the arrest of a New Jersey man. Police say the victim was briefly dragged while trying to stop the theft, and officers are still searching for a second suspect as the case heads to Meriden court.
   

2. Man Cited In Illegal Dumping Incident In North Haven: Police (patch.com) — North Haven police cited a 61-year-old man more than $1,000 after finding freshly dumped construction debris on Valley Service Road, an area long plagued by illegal dumping. Officers tracked the suspect's truck to New Haven, towed the unregistered vehicle, and say they'll continue aggressive enforcement to protect local neighborhoods from future dumping problems.
   

3. Amazon's first drone delivery plan for Connecticut reaches key point (nhregister.com) — North Haven could soon host Connecticut's first Amazon Prime Air drone delivery center at 409 Washington Avenue, pending federal and state approvals now under review. Residents within the facility's coverage area, potentially including much of Hamden and Wallingford, may be able to choose 30‑minute drone deliveries for a small fee, and DEEP is accepting public comments on the plan through Oct. 1.
   

4. Yankees, Red Sox, Mets Lose, NFL Thurs Nite, WNBA, High School Football (iheart.com) — North Haven sports fans can catch the high school football team on the road at Masuk in Thursday night action, alongside several other Connecticut matchups. The roundup also highlights MLB results for the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets, the Lions-Bills Thursday night NFL game, and the Connecticut Sun's WNBA trip to face the Atlanta Dream.
   

5. New Haven man gets 30 years in prison for 2023 fatal drive-by shooting (ctpost.com) — North Haven residents are indirectly tied to a 2023 New Haven drive-by killing, as the stolen Volkswagen used in the shooting was later abandoned in town the same night. A 21-year-old New Haven man has now been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter with a firearm in the death of a 29-year-old city resident.
