Person Struck, Killed By Train In North Haven: Police

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Monday night in North Haven, according to police. Emergency crews responded to the scene on Devine Street near State Street, police said around 9:10 p.m.

Sackett Point Road between Universal Drive and State Street will be closed as police investigate the fatal accident. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area. To sign up for North Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.

"At 9:04 p.m. we responded to a train strike regarding a pedestrian at the Devine St. crossing," police said in a post on Facebook Monday night. "A body was located near the track just north of Sackett Point Rd. North Haven Police and Amtrak Police are investigation the collision."

It was the second fatal accident in North Haven on Monday. Police are also investigating a fatal crash from Monday afternoon in which a vehicle struck a utility pole on Middletown Avenue (Route 17), just south of the Montowese Avenue intersection.
