Apple Opening New Store In The SoNo Collection

NORWALK, CT — Apple, the popular technology and consumer electronics behemoth, will open a store in The SoNo Collection sometime in the near future, according to a sign inside the new Norwalk mall.

Speculation about the arrival of the maker of iPhones, iPads and iMacs to the mall began in the fall, when it was revealed that Apple was slated to move into an 8,400 square foot space inside the facility.

The exact date of the opening has not been disclosed, and neither the company's website nor the mall's website lists the new store, as of Dec. 16. The news first was reported by The Hour.

"We've got something special in store for you," the signs reads. "A brand new Apple Store is coming soon."

Apple has seven stores in Connecticut in Greenwich, Stamford, Danbury, Trumbull, New Haven, Farmington and South Windsor.

The fate of Apple's Stamford store in the Stamford Town Center could be up in the air, however, because the mall has been put on the market by owners Taubman Centers, writes Westfair Communications. The structure could eventually be turned into a redevelopment project with office, residential or uses other than mall retail.

Since opening in October, The SoNo Collection has yet to add any consumer electronics stores, though a Verizon store is slated to open in the mall in the future, and an Amazon 4-Star store also will open soon. The new Amazon store will be the company's first in Connecticut.
