Man Charged With ID Theft Purchased $50,000 Jeep: Norwalk Police
Police said a man arrested on identity theft and forgery charges purchased the car with a fraudulent identification at a Norwalk dealership.

NORWALK, CT — A New York man accused of using fraudulent identification to purchase a car from a Norwalk dealership was arrested this week, according to police.
In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said detectives launched an investigation in 2021 after a customer used fraudulent identification to purchase a Jeep Grand Cherokee valued at over $50,000 from a local car dealership.
After further investigation, police identified Corey Poole, 22, of Hempstead, N.Y., as a suspect, Evarts said.

According to Evarts, Poole had committed similar crimes in other areas of Connecticut, as well as New York and Pennsylvania.
On Thursday, Norwalk police traveled to Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverhead, N.Y., to serve a fully extraditable warrant for Poole, Evarts said.

Poole was charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree identity theft and third-degree forgery. His bond was set at $250,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court next month, according to Evarts.
