Shooting Death At Norwalk Gun Range Ruled A Suicide: UPDATE

NORWALK, CT — Thursday's shooting death at Fairfield County Firearms and Archery on New Canaan Avenue has been ruled a suicide, according to Norwalk police.

"Yesterday, June 11, 2020 shortly after 12:00p.m officers were called to a person shot inside of the shooting range at Fairfield County Firearms and Archery at 4 New Canaan Avenue," police said in a statement.

"Officers responded and discovered that one person sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This incident is classified as a suicide and next of kin notifications were made.

"This incident is still under investigation by the Detective Bureau."

The victim's identity was not released.

Original Story: NORWALK, CT — A man died at a Norwalk shooting range on Thursday afternoon of what police are calling "an intentional self inflicted gun shot wound."

Police were called to Fairfield County Firearms and Archery on New Canaan Avenue at about 12:15 p.m., and detectives and a medical examiner were quickly dispatched to the scene soon after.

The victim's identity was not released, and additional details were not disclosed.

"The incident is contained, and there is no public threat," wrote Norwalk police on the department's Facebook page.

Thursday afternoon's shooting at the gun range was the second shooting investigated by Norwalk police in the same day.

On Thursday morning, a person was shot and injured during an incident at the Roodner Court housing complex on Ely Avenue.
