New Taco Restaurant To Open On Wall Street In Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — A new restaurant featuring authentic Mexican recipes made with modern techniques is planned to open at 102 Wall Street in the coming months.

Adrian Hurtado, who operates the Taco Guy food truck out of Norwalk, confirmed to Patch the restaurant is in the works and hopes to start welcoming guests in late spring or early summer.

Hurtado comes from four generations of taqueros, or taco makers, and has worked alongside his parents at their family restaurant, Super Taqueria Las Salsas in Bridgeport, for a number of years.

"I hope to combine that legacy with my time at some of the best restaurants and bars in New York City to show Connecticut the beauty of modern Mexican cuisine and culture," Hurtado said in an email to Patch.

The restaurant will open in the former location of Wall Street Tavern, which closed earlier this year. On Friday, paper featuring the Taco Guy logos could be seen covering the space's windows.

"I had only been looking for a brick and mortar spot for a few months when I saw our new location on Wall Street and I knew it was the perfect place," Hurtado said.

Opening at 102 Wall Street is also a homecoming of sorts for Hurtado, who began his career making pizzas at Bar Sugo, which occupied the space before Wall Street Tavern moved in.

"Returning to the same location to open my restaurant," Hurtado said, "with recipes that my great-great grandfather used, feels meant to be."

The announcement comes on the heels of planned openings for a number of new businesses in the Wall Street area of the city, including Greer Southern Table on River Street and the Endless Creativity party store at 7 Wall Street.

According to their website, the Taco Guy food truck offers a selection of tacos, including carnitas, pork belly and veggie, as well as items such as "taco'dillas" and guacamole. Each taco is served on handmade corn tortillas.
