Norwalk CC Plans Demonstration to Stop Elimination of Shuttle
All are invited to help Norwalk Community College faculty, staff, and students in their fight against the elimination of the NCC shuttle.
Norwalk Community College has been working with its students to fight the proposed elimination of the NCC Shuttle by the Norwalk Transit District (NTD). The NTD aims to eliminate the shuttle after recorded low ridership numbers due to COVID and the shift to online learning. However, the community is not backing down in protesting the necessity of the shuttle for its students. As the pressure builds on the NTD, we need the voices of the NCC community to be heard now more than ever!
On Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 12pm, we are calling all members of our community to come together to protest the proposed elimination of the NCC shuttle. The demonstration will take place in front of NCC’s West Campus (188 Richards Ave.) bus shelter and will call on the NTD to stop their plan in eliminating the shuttle.
The shuttle, which routes along NCC’s West Campus and the South Norwalk Metro-North train station, has helped thousands of students along the years who depend on it to get to and from campus for their classes.

Without the shuttle, Metro-North riders may end up waiting 40 minutes or more for the next bus to campus while some students could easily end up with a two-hour commute just to get to class! NTD claims the regular bus service meets all scheduled Metro-North trains, but this is not accurate. The demonstration aims to show NTD CEO Kimberlee Morton that the NCC shuttle is vital to our community and cannot be taken away.
