Norwalk Community College Hosts Inaugural Media Day Event

On Friday March 10, 2023 high school students from around the region will convene at Norwalk Community College for the inaugural “Media Madness” conference.

Organized by Assistant Professor for Film and Television Julie Casper Roth and faculty from Wilton and Norwalk High Schools, the conference will provide high school students with an introduction to a variety of media fields.

Seeing the high turn out from media day events at central Connecticut high schools, Professor Casper Roth and Wilton High School media teacher, Maria Naeem, collaborated on the event.

By creating a “more accessible event for high school students in Connecticut’s southwest region” says Professor Casper Roth, “I hope students will be able to develop a greater understanding of the breadth of media fields while also getting an introduction to some of the amazing digital media offerings here at NCC.”

Workshops will be led by faculty, an NCC alumnus, and community partners including The Factory Underground and News 12’s sports anchor Justin DeVellis.

Students will learn about audio production, television production, on-air performance, and the creation of PSAs (public service announcements). Impact Teen Drivers will also be on hand to promote its annual PSA competition for high school students.

The event is scheduled to run from 9am until 1pm.
