Norwalk Coronavirus Update: 5 More Deaths; 35 New Cases

Statewide as of Monday there have been 2,556 coronavirus-related deaths.

NORWALK, CT — A total of 91 Norwalk residents have died of complications from the new coronavirus (COVID-19) as of Monday, an increase of five since Sunday, according to Mayor Harry Rilling. Additionally, there were 35 new positives cases, bringing to the total to 1,698.

"It is troubling that five more of our residents have died from coronavirus. The amount of people we have lost and the number of families grieving as a result of this pandemic is heartbreaking," Rilling said. "I pray for them and allof Norwalk. I remind everyone to continue taking all of the necessary precautions to keep yourself, yourloved ones, and your community safe and healthy."

Statewide as of Monday there have been 2,556 coronavirus-related deaths, an increase of 61, and the number of confirmed cases stood at 29,973, an increase of 661.

  • Governor Lamont and the governors of Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, New York Governor announced a joint multi-state agreement to develop a regional supply chain for personal protective equipment, other medical equipment and testing. States will work together to identify the entire region’s needs for these products, aggregate demand among the states, reduce costs and stabilize the supply chain.
  • The Norwalk Public Library posted an online photo gallery – “Norwalk Strong: Life During COVID-19” – that depict everyday life in Norwalk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos. View the online gallery at norwalkpl.org.
  • City officials remind the public that programs, events, and activities at City facilities remain canceled, and team sports, leagues, and practices are not allowed.
  • May 4 – 8 is Teacher Appreciation Week, and Mayor Rilling and City officials say thank you to the more than 900 certified teachers in Norwalk who continue to be there for their students during these challenging times.

"I am in awe of how quickly and willingly they have thrown themselves into a new normal and a new way of teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.
