The Norwalk Public Library welcomes ArtScapades back for a virtual presentation in its continuing series of lectures on 20th Century Art. Please join us on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:30p.m., from the comfort of your home, for “East Meets West: From Japonism to Impressionism.”

ArtScapades will look at the influence of Japanese art and culture on French and American Impressionism. This lecture begins with a look at two of Japan’s master printmakers, Hokusai and Hiroshige, and will then move on to discuss their influence on well known names of the Impressionist movement, including Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, William Merritt Chase and Childe Hassam.

Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades began teaching art appreciation in 1998. They have presented at libraries and museums in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Florida.
