Rumor of Ebola Patient at Norwalk Hospital False

The hospital shot down a rumor that a suspicious or confirmed Ebola case was reported at the hospital.

Norwalk Hospital sent out a message on social media Tuesday afternoon that said rumors of a possible Ebola case are false.

The following message appeared on the hospital’s Facebook page.

We have no confirmed or suspicious Ebola cases at Norwalk Hospital, or at any of our hospitals. Our ED is open and fully operational. We are ready however if it should a case come to us.

As with any potentially transmissible illness, we follow evidence based clinical protocols and CDC guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff. We have well trained staff, as well as the facilities and equipment to isolate and manage potentially infectious patients. We are fully prepared to manage Ebola should we encounter this very serious illness in our community.
